REFLEJO

LO QUE SE DICE DE MI – LO QUE YO CREO QUE SOY YO

 

Nuestro objetivo al hacer este autorretrato era observar nuestra imagen y personalidad, una forma de expresar emociones, capturar un momento en el tiempo, la oportunidad de explorar desde situaciones personales de una manera auténtica y libre.

Es por eso que en el proceso de la obra, nos reflejamos en experiencias, necesidades y aspiraciones. Dentro del contexto alteño (nuestra casa), el reflejo es mas amplio; nos vemos madres, vecinas atentas, mujeres trabajadoras, vendedoras de arte y artesanías, y muchas veces nos sentimos brujas al querer proteger y curar lo que amamos.

Nos reflejamos, pero no somos lo mismo, ni siquiera aceptamos lo que se nos dice que somos.

El reflejo, el nombre, los denominativos podrían ser parte de un sin fin de formas de vernos. Dentro de cada una existe una “yo” que podría no ser lo que se quiere de nosotras, pero que al final simplemente “es” y nos gusta que exista.

Our goal in creating this self-portrait was to observe our image and personality, a way to express emotions, capture a moment in time, and explore personal situations in an authentic and free way.
That's why, in the creative process, we reflected on our experiences, needs, and aspirations. Within the context of El Alto (our home), the reflection is broader; we see ourselves as mothers, attentive neighbors, working women, vendors of art and crafts, and often we feel like witches, wanting to protect and heal what we love.
 
We are reflected, but we are not the same, nor do we accept what we are told we are.
 
Reflection, name, labels could be part of an endless array of ways of seeing ourselves. Within each of us, there is a "self" that may not be what others want us to be, but that ultimately simply "is," and we are happy that it exists.
